JAI SCRAPBOOKING #5- VINTAGE/HERITAGE

Hi Everyone,

This particular post is late due to the very eventful week I've had so far this month with two family members in hospital (and out now) having had two operations (both orthpedic), so I've been been playing nursemaid, taxi runner and all else that goes with the duties of mum and wife on top of the norm.
I'm hoping for the rest of May to settle back into some normality LOL!
So with out further ado here is my take on JAI (Just Add Ink) Scrapbooking #5 Vintage/Heritage. I loved this challenge, something close to my heart.

JAI SCRAPBOOKING #5- VINTAGE/HERITAGE

My First Doll- Circa 1967
I've used Stampin Up DSP- Twitterpatered and the lovely pleated ribbons- Blushing Bride and Baja Breeze. As well the new current Blossom Punch, SU crocheted Floralettes, Twitterpatered Buttons and some mini rossette which can be made using the Scoreboard. I finished off the layout with some handstitching - some of the design was achieved by using the Negative cutout of the swirls Sizzix die.

So why not join in and have a go too at this months challenge by clicking on the JAI badge below to see other team members examples and the guidelines for this challenge.

For the Love of TEALS ♥

Hi Everyone
Anyone that is close to me will know that my favourite colour is anything or any shade that derives from TEAL!
I got pretty excited last year at the Stampin Up convention 2011 in Melbourne when we got to construct our new colour sample boards and all these new shades of TEAL- be they - Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party, Baja Breeze, Island Indigo or yes even Not Quite Navy (the darker end of a Teal/Blue shade)
And so this post has that theme- in particular or especially Pool Party (cardstock and seam binding), Baja Breeze (again cardstock and seam binding) and Island Indigo and the paper - DSP- Twitterpated!

Here are some recent samples (and some CASES too that I've taken inspiration from other very talented SU demos- credited accordingly)
Teal roundup of examples (some seen in previous posts)

Inspiration from Patrice Herrera.

Inspiration from Sandy Connor

I'm sure there are quite a few of us out there who have a thing for TEAL too.
Have a great week everyone

Enjoy

All Dressed Up!

Hi Everyone,

A little more update re: launch examples. Have to say I totally love this new DSP- Attic Boutique, it is so far up my alley, I often think I was born in the wrong era.
DSP- Attic Boutique
and I love this stamp set best of all in the new Mini catty (closely followed by another)
Stamp- Rue Des Fleurs

When I first saw the image of this set in the mini I thought about ways it could be used and the not so obvious and here is what I come up with followed by a layout using the same papers from this collection.

My card, combining the bodice and the umbrella to form a dress!

New Edgelits border used here and some pleating, made easy thanks to the scoreboard!

A layout capturing some photos I took early in the year of my grand niece, works wonderfully with this new stamps.

the two projects together

Well that should start the first day of this week off nicely
have a great week,

Birds of Feather stick together!

Hi Everyone,
This post will be a 'bird theme showcase' featuring the newest addition in Bigz dies to SU in the new Autumn/Winter Mini catalogue.

Bigz die-125593 -Elegant Bird

so here's a few ideas I've come upon in my researches and made for my launch.

Featuring the DSP - Attic Boutique (two of my fav papers from this collection)

The concept for this project orginally came from some inspiration from another usa SU demo - Janet Wakeland- an interesting turn of events, as I cut out some paper for the 'circle part' used our current scallop border punch and went to start scoring in the lines on the scoreboard only to discover that if fact the lady had used a USA new 'big shot' die that cuts and scores the lines either side of the scallops without the small little 'solid' scallop between that we have with the border punch- turned out to be a bit tricky for me, so I settled on a 'fan' idea instead, added the 'create' sentiment as well and the antique tag.

this card is a CASE from Kimberly Van DiePan, she used the SAB Everyday Enchanted on her original design. I love this set in its entirety but even more so the postage stamp one!

Oh my goodness it my travels to retrace the origins of these orginal designs that I have found in 'googling' -Elegant Bird, I discover that in fact most of these following designs are our SU Founder's projects- Shelli. She has inspiring taste and style for which I'm grateful!

this is another of Shelli's designs (hey I'm a grateful fan, love that she does vintage and antique, which means I can always look forward to those sort of product additions for evermore in the catalogues)
- Yay you got me!!!

I'm considering using this firstly as a special '50th birthday card' for my hubby's upcoming milestone. I notice on closer inspection that Shelli's version may well be a mini album which I could later turn the front of this card into a 50th memorabilia mini album for my hubby. I say when something is so nice why 'reinvent the wheel'!

Found this example on the net and cased it- I'm pretty sure its a 'Shelli' project that was a WOW presentation at the recent USA's leadership conference.

I've seen similar versions of this idea where fabric is used with the Bigz Elegant Bird Die. I think it would make a great wedding table deco or even one of those arm decorations that are given to brides as they walk back down the Aisle. My mind is turning over yet for other fabric ideas on this one!

So here's to the new bird die and her many styles of use!
Have a great week,

Enjoy - Ruthy xf

Hi Everyone,
Yes the new Stampin Up Mini Autumn/Winter has gone live (as of April 1st - July 31st) which means new launches are all happening and I have just had an exciting weekend of events with my own launches which have been a resounding success as before as new and loyal customers continue to be part of my SU and creative journey.
Click on the new Mini catty image to have a browse and if you wish to order shoot me through an email- I will be at your service directly!

Ok so rather than give you photo overload, I shall try and pace myself and give you a little bit more regularly to show my launch memories.

My Example display that the guests got to see while doing their workshop.
I was inspired with the gift-bag idea from a fellow SU demo Julie Leece, she used the Bird design on her bag.
Love these new Framelits Dies and the Apothecary Art stamp set!

I had two events- Friday night and Saturday avo here are the two cards that we done for the make n takes, pink version Friday night and the blue version Saturday.

Well I better leave this post as is with more to follow.
Have a great weekend all,

Enjoy - Ruthy xf

Last of the Salebration 2012

Hi Everyone,

Just a little share and quickie post of a collection of projects that I made for a workshop yesterday. I've used the DSP- Everyday Enchantment papers from the SALEBRATION campaign. I loved these papers as you all could probably tell by the amount of scrapbook layouts and cards I made from just one pack and still have enough bits over to go another layout or two! Sadly like all good things, they come to an end, so I'll wrap this special up with this show and tell.

My card which I prepared for a workshop Make n Take is a case from a fellow DT member on JAI- Kim Badelt, I totally adored her card, which for those who follow our JAI challenge site, will see in time, she is amongst a very talented group of woman on JAI and I'm always in awe of what they do with cards and  layouts as well! I used the Stampin Up - Bigz Two Tags die and also the Bigz - Perfect Pennants die. The Butterfly was achieved from the Embosslit- Beautiful Wings.

And for the Hostess thankyou gift, I made two items- 1 this book mark-

and the other- a little treat box made from  the Bigz Two Tags die as in all the previous projects.
I got the idea for construction for this box from a online You Tube tutorial - here or here
Because we are on the eve of  Easter celebrations I included a couple of Easter Eggs- yum!

And all the projects together-

That conclude a great source of Salebrations products that we've been able to acquire from Jan - March 31st!

Have a great Easter everyone,

Enjoy - Ruthy xf
